Sam Puryear, Jr.

is the Director of Golf at Howard University in Washington DC and the President of PURYEARGOLF.COM and Pure Swing Golf Solutions, LLC. With more than 20 years in the golf industry, his specialties include motivational speaking, mentoring, coaching, and working in junior golf development for collegiate placement. He began his coaching career on the Stanford University staff that brought the Cardinal golf team from a number 42 team ranking all the way to number 1. In addition to Stanford, he has coached at Michigan State University and Queens University in Charlotte, NC, where he also directed the university’s Professional Golf Management Program (PGM). Puryear has been recognized as a prominent spokesperson discussing the future of minorities in golf. As the former Executive Director of the East Lake Junior Golf Academy in Atlanta, GA, he increased enrollment from 150 to 1,000 students while understanding the importance of junior golf in a community.
